Monsters was a late 80s horror anthology produced by Richard Rubinstein who was more popularly known for producing some of George Romero‘s greatest films starting with 1978’s Martin and including Dawn of the Dead (1979) Knightriders (1981), Creepshow (1982), and Day of the Dead (1985).
During its run from 1988-1991, the syndicated show broadcasted some very fun and engaging episodes.
The series covered many favorite horror themes such as vampires, zombies, aliens, the occult, and other paranormal phenomenon. Many well-known actors found their way onto the set of Monsters such as David Spade (“Small Blessings” Season 3 Episode 7), Tony Shalhoub (“Leavings” Season 3 Episode 17), Steve Buscemi (“Bed and Boar” Season 2 Episode 14) as well as genre favorites Mary Woronov (“Pillow Talk” Season 1 Episode 10), Hellraiser 1 & 2 star Ashley Laurence (“The Match Game” Season 1 Episode 18), Adrienne Barbeau (“All in a Day’s Work” Season 1 Episode 21) John Saxon (“The Waiting Room” Season 3 Episode 16), and Linda Blair (“La Strega” Season 1 Episode 21).
One of the most memorable aspects of the show is the opening segment for each episode which you can see below:
